Sentimental

Taken on my last night in Manguzi, where I had the most amazing African experience working at the hospital...

I was meant to leave earlier with my friends to have a few sunset drinks at the lake but got stuck in emergency surgery, so I asked the nurse to tell them to go without me...

and I got a message back:
"Bro would never go without you. Call us when you're done."

Blazing through the field in the 4-wheel-drive, we caught the last rays of light gracing over the water, with hippos lounging in the lake less than 50 yards away... and spot, our hospital Jack Russell seemed to think he could tackle them.

We sat on top of the car with our ice-cold beers and watched the maple-red sky setting the water on fire. And no one spoke for a while.

Sometimes it's hard not to be sentimental.
