When u're having fun. Just like that, I'm almost at the end of my first ever rotation as a junior doctor... in a couple weeks I'll be finishing my first 3 months in general medicine and moving onto orthopaedic surgery -- where the surgeons are dubbed 'Carpenters of medicine' where I'll pretty much be left to run the show in the wards.

How much medicine have I learnt in the past 3 months? Not much, really. What I have learnt, is the importance of interpersonal skills, time management, delegation of tasks, dealing with stress and chaos, and the importance of keeping a balance in life... Work hard, play hard... In short, about life in general.

And I've come out on the othe side, a little stronger, a little wiser... not without bruises, mind ya - my explosive consultant boss certainly let me know when things don't happen the way he wants it - but now I feel competent to handle whatever is thrown my way... not to do everything myself, but to know my abilities and limits, and know when to ask for help and how to prioritise the tasks...
