Tragedy struck Nepal this week... and my heart is broken. Such an innocent, beautifully majestic yet fragile place, with such a strong yet warm and hospitable people...
Nepal, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
I would like to ask you guys, however few that are following me these days, to do your best to donate and contribute to the help the Nepalese people desperately need. They are not a rich country. Indeed, the poor infrastructure and construction of many of their buildings no doubt contributed to the toll. But this is not the time to point fingers and place blame. It is the time to help however you can.
In the meantime, if I manage to sell any prints from here, I will donate the proceeds, and further match the profit again with my own money. If you were ever considering purchasing a print... Now's the time!
Much love y'all

Ten years
So, I just realised it's been ten years since I joined dA.
I joined when I was twenty-three. A little jaded, a little bewildered, a little in love. Couldn't wait to pack my bags, see the world, make new friends, and beautiful photographs.
Now I'm a little older. Maybe a little less jaded, less bewildered, but in love and content. With life, with work, and most importantly, with who I am. I can say honestly that I have chased many of my dreams, and succeeded in the most part, in one way or another.
It's been six months since I last logged in and uploaded something. It's not that I don't care about it anymore, but I guess compared to ten yea
From Nepal with Love
For the first time in years, I am finally making print-worthy photographs again in the Himalayas in Nepal. I think the combination of solitude and breathtaking scenery may be helping.
I don't have access to photoshop even for some basic adjustment and cropping but I will start uploading some shots that I feel is ready for submission without the need for any processing.
Much love
Mike
Upcoming unemployment
I have quit my job (just for 3 months) from September.
I am going trekking in Nepal and spend some time cruising around in Taiwan and Japan.
I have bought a new camera (Canon EOS-M) so my back will thank me when I lug my gear around at 4000m above sea level.
I am quite excited about all this... My first REAL trip for several years will hopefully get me back in my groove :-)
How are you?
I'm still alive
So, I saw today that
1. It has been more than 2 years since my last journal entry
2. That was also the last time I uploaded something here, and
3. Somehow, through the inactivity I received another DD
It's not that I haven't been operating my camera, I have... I just haven't taken anything I felt was good enough to be in my gallery. Maybe it's a long, extended artist's block. Maybe getting older has made me more critical. Or maybe trying to do 2 hyper-full-time jobs in the last couple years meant I simply did not get the time or energy to spare for the Creative Process.
In any case, now I have sold my wine bar/photography gallery and on
